We were commissioned to refurbish virtually every floor at the Castle of Brecon Hotel over the summer. This was particularly challenging because the subfloors were all over the place, this is a very old building and a lot of the subfloor had basically sagged.
ATC started at the top and worked its way down. Solid and engineered sustainable Oak fitted throughout this beauitful hotel in the heart of Brecon and with its wonderful views over the Brecon Beacons all in a national park. Once we had finished in the bedrooms and hallways we concentrating on restoring the massive Ballroom. I have spent many a night in there listening to great jazz during the Brecon Jazz Festival. Both bars had to follow with solid oak throughout bars and dining area. Finally the restaurant was fitted. The then owners did not think of a fireplace and as we only had the weekend to fit, ATC's fitters turned around and made the fireplace surrounds on the spot which worked brilliantly. We also made the screen that houses the stained glass peacock designs and all the bespoke shutters on the windows.
The hotel has since been sold and the new owners have not treated the floors. Unfortunately there has been trouble with the plumbing in the bar over the years with leaks everywhere which has damaged the floor. We would love to go back and put it right because the beauty of a solid oak oiled floor is that it can easily be repaired and retreated.
